A man managed to survive a 25,000 volt electric shock at Durham railway station on Saturday 11th September 2010 when he climbed onto the roof of a railway carriage to retrieve his shoe. He received a huge shock from the overhead powerlines and was thrown onto the track, and is critically ill in hospital with 40% burns to his body.
Police are now trying to work out how his shoe ended up on the roof of the railway carriage and are currently appealing for witnesses.
