Southern Railway has decided to introduce trains on the Brighton to Portsmouth service that do not have any toilets. This means that for passengers on the hour and a half service things could start to get very uncomfortable, although Southern have said they are increasing the number of stations with toilets on the route and as most people typically make journies of less than 30 minutes on the route it will not be a problem. Although only 1/3rd of the new trains introduced will not have toilets so it will be a bit of a lottery for passengers but the best advice is to go before you get on.
The RMT and the rail watchdog Passenger Focus has condemned the move as unacceptable.
