TFL are providing ways to beat the tube strike

Written On 9/3/2010 by IB

With the usual chaos that will happen in London due to the forthcoming tube strike on the 6th September, TFL are putting a few measures in place to help everyone deal with it.

For bus travellers they will be adding 100 extra buses on the network and adding a new riverboat shuttle service between the Tower, Westminster and London Eye piers.

Taxi travellers will get a marshalled taxi service from the major London station, like Waterloo, Kings Cross, Liverpool St, Charing Cross and Marylebone stations into various destinations in central London.

It is probably cycling though that will get the biggest boost, as the mayor has been writing to businesses to ask them to allow employees to wear more casual clothes during the strike, and for beginners there will be guided bike rides into central London leaving at 8am from various places including Ravenscourt Park, Finsbury Park, Mile End, Swiss Cottage, Clapham Common and Brixton, so hopefully some nice weather is on the cards too.
